James Galea Hates Rabbits!

Australia’s #1 Magician to Perform in Hollywood

 For Immediate Release

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Australia’s #1 magician, James Galea is bringing his critically acclaimed show I HATE RABBITS to the DIM MAK Theater (formally Cinespace) for its American debut on Monday, April 25th at 8:00 pm.

Galea’s ground-breaking sold-out performances have attracted mass-media attention on an international level. His mind-blowing signature card trick 673 King Street at The Melbourne International Comedy Festival became a YouTube sensation seen by millions, and eventually landed him on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. His appearance was so successful that Ellen had him back in Chicago for her hugely popular TBS Special. “I don’t know how he does it.” says Ellen, “But James Galea blows my mind everytime I see him.”

Galea’s high energy magic concert has reinvented the art form and is vastly different to the stereotypical ‘pull a rabbit out of a hat’ performances from most magicians. His unique, cutting edge style seamlessly fuses his wicked sense of humor with award-winning sleight-of-hand which is projected live onto large screens in the theatre. With no long sleeves or fancy props to hide behind, I HATE RABBITS is a very raw and intimate magical experience.

“Often you see the same tricks, by the same genre of people, in the same format,” says Galea. “I wanted to create a show that I knew my friends and I would want to see.”

Disclaimer: James Galea doesn’t really hate rabbits, it’s just a pretty cool name for a show by Australia’s hottest magician.

I Hate Rabbits

For Immediate Release: INTRODUCTION OF INNOVATIVE ONLINE MENTAL HEALTH CARE SERVICE FOR U.S. MILITARY SPARKS OVERWHELMING RESPONSE

two col ruler

Vets PrevailSM Increases Outreach Efforts to Combat Holiday Depression

Vets PrevailSM has enrolled 500 U.S. veterans and active duty troops in its groundbreaking, web-based training program that helps reintegration into civilian life by building resilience against stress-related disorders.  A service of Prevail Health Solutions LLC (“Prevail”), Vets Prevail quickly met and surpassed the enrollment goal set during its Veterans Day launch last month. Featuring interactive e-learning sessions tailored to the military audience that dynamically convey the most relevant content to each user based on his or her input, the lessons also are supported by instant message chats with Veteran Peer Mentors that strike the right balance between anonymity and community.  The privacy and convenience of the online program overcome the problems of stigma and access that have prevented many veterans from taking the first step to mental health care.

In light of the strong response, Vets Prevail now has filled its initial allocation of users, funding for which was provided by Welcome Back Veterans, an initiative of Major League Baseball and the McCormick Foundation through a grant to the Veterans’ Corporation, Inc.  Since the program is offered at no cost to veterans and service members, Prevail actively is seeking additional support to provide access to Vets Prevail for all veterans and service members, nationwide.

“We knew the Vets Prevail program would achieve a strong response, but we anticipated 500 enrollments within 4 months, not 3 weeks.” says Richard Gengler, CEO and Co Founder of Prevail. “The groundswell of demand shows that today’s military is facing an entirely new set of challenges that require innovative technology solutions. As a veteran-owned organization, we are dedicated to our fellow warriors. We believe this has allowed us to effectively reach out to our military community in a unique way and recruit members of this generation of service members and connect to create a community of care, online.”

Aside from seeking support, outreach efforts have increased in connection with the holiday season, since holidays can be particularly difficult for those who suffer from depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). At a time when suicide rates among veterans and service members are higher than ever, this is an issue that must be addressed. Besides actively reaching out to service members by social media, news outlets and email, Vets Prevail is continuing the “We Prevail” campaign by producing a collection of videos showing veterans and family members conveying stories about the effects of PTSD and giving testimonials in support of the Vets Prevail program. Celebrities are also being invited to record their endorsements and names will be announced soon. The videos will be released on the website and circulated virally through social media and online properties.

"The Quarrel" Comes to Southern California

PostcardFront "The Quarrel" Comes to Southern California
For immediate release.

PRESS RELEASE

TIMELESS OFF-BROADWAY SMASH HIT TAKES ON FAITH AND FRIENDSHIP IN A POST-HOLOCAUST WORLD

“THE QUARREL” COMES TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 – The enormously popular, critically acclaimed Off-Broadway hit play, The Quarrel is coming to the Brandeis-Bardin Auditorium, located at 1101 Peppertree Lane in Simi Valley, CA on Sunday, April 12th at 8:00 pm. An additional 3:00 pm matinee performance has been added due to popular demand. Part of all proceeds will be donated to iVolunteer, a non-profit organization and visitation program that pairs volunteers with Holocaust survivors, providing them with companionship and case assistance www.ivolunteerny.com .

The Quarrel has played to impressive reviews and standing ovations around the country, most recently off Broadway at New York City’s DR2 Theatre. The questions that are raised in the Quarrel are still pertinent today; can you love someone whose views you really can’t stand? How can one believe in Gd when we are surrounded by so much injustice and hardship?

The story takes place years after the Holocaust and focuses on characters Chaim (Sam Guncler; Conversations with My Father, Law and Order, The Sopranos) and Hersh (Reuven Russell; Chaplin, ER, Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys). The two men were inseparable as schoolmates in prewar Europe, until a soul-shattering fight launched them on different paths. Both lost their entire families during the war and naturally assumed the other was also killed. One is now a free-living writer, the other a pious rabbi. The Quarrel begins as, years later; they accidentally meet in a park. Shocked, they soon recover, reminisce, and resume the life-altering argument that drove them apart.

Originally an acclaimed 1950 short story by the Yiddish master Chaim Grade, “Mayn Krig mit Hersh Rasseyner (My Quarrel with Hersh Rasseyner)” was adapted for the screen in 1991 by award-winning screenwriter and producer David Brandis (Showtime series My Life As a Dog, HBO series the Strangers) and noted rabbi and author, Joseph Telushkin (An Eye for an Eye, The Nine Questions People Ask About Judaism; co-written with Dennis Prager). The success of that award-winning film prompted the writers to take a fresh look at the piece with an eye toward enhancing its theatricality with a stage adaptation. In 1999, The Quarrel opened in New Jersey, breaking existing box office records before going on tour.

Reserved seating is $26 in advance, $30 at the door; general admission is $18 in advance, $22 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased at www.thequarreltheplay.com. For information regarding group rates, contact Shoshana at (310) 278-5562.
